HARRISBURG – Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter) this past weekend presented a House citation to Colton Pierce in recognition of him being named the 2018 Individual Champion of the Senior Division during the 2018 National Youth Hunter Education Challenge.

The National Youth Hunter Education Challenge was held in July 2018 at Mansfield University. It is a competitive, multi-day event that tests competitors age 18 and younger in various aspects of hunting, such as marksmanship, orienteering, hunting safety, wildlife identification and more.

“I was at the competition and was impressed with the number of participants who made the trip to Mansfield from all across the country,” said Owlett. “Colton won against some very tough competitors. His years of skill building and practice showed during each event of the competition.”

Colton is the son of Theron and Sarah Pierce of Mansfield. During the challenge, he placed first in the muzzleloader and hunter safety examination events and second place in the hunter safety trail event. He was also a member of the Troy Junior Sportsmen’s Senior Sling Shot Team, which took second place nationally.

“It was an honor to personally congratulate Colton on his win,” said Owlett. “His commitment to the sport of hunting was on full display this past summer, and I wish him all the best as he moves on to pursue his future goals.”
