Community and Business Leaders Speak Out on Economic Impact of STPR Downgrade
August 11, 2021
WHAT: Community and business leaders in the Wellsboro area will discuss their commitment to restoring the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR) as part of the American Rally Association’s national championship in 2022. Event planners recently announced they had to downgrade this year’s event to an East Regional Championship event due to permitting issues with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). The change will have a negative economic impact on the community and rob this region and give to another the opportunity to showcase area forestlands on a worldwide stage.
WHO: Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter); Tioga County Commissioners Erick Coolidge and Mark Hamilton; Sen. Cris Dush (R-25); Julie Henry, executive director, Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce; James Monks, STPR chairman; Jerry Curreri, restaurant owner; and Marsha Chesko, former hotel owner.
WHEN: Thursday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce, 114 Main St. #1, Wellsboro.
