HARRISBURG – The Tioga County Conservation District is receiving a Growing Greener grant for streambank stabilization improvements needed within the Canoe Camp Creek Watershed, announced Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter).

“This is great news,” said Owlett. “Any time we can leverage state funding for needed projects in the region is win. This funding will help shore up streambanks within the watershed, which will help preserve the quality of our local waterways.”

The Tioga County Conservation District is receiving $25,430 for the Canoe Camp Creek Watershed Improvement Project. The conservation district is doing multiple projects in the Canoe Camp Creek Watershed with the funding earmarked to help efforts to stabilize about 2,000 linear feet of streambank, reducing sediment by an estimated 1,250 tons per year.

Growing Greener is the largest single investment of state funds in Pennsylvania’s history to address the state’s critical environmental concerns. Grant funding has helped reduce the backlog of farmland preservation projects; protect open space; eliminate the maintenance backlog in state parks; clean up abandoned mines and restore watersheds; provide funds for recreational trails and local parks; help communities address land use; and provide new and upgraded water and sewer systems.
